Ask for the moon = làm điều không tưởng.

Ví dụ: She is trying to earn money in one week to go around the World, and I think she is asking for the moon.

 

To be over the moon = rất sung sướng, hạnh phúc.

Ví dụ: Wow, I did get all A for all subjects. I’m over the moon now.

 

Promise someone the moon = hứa hẹn một điều gì đó mà không thể làm được.

Ví dụ: Don’t believe him to increase your salary, he usually promises his employees the moon.

 

Once in blue moon = rất hiếm.

Ví dụ: She gets angry once in blue moon.

 

The man in moon = người viễn vông, không thực tế.

Ví dụ: Don’t be the man in moon like that, you need a job to earn money.

 

Many moons ago = từ rất lâu rồi.

Moon away = lãng phí.

Ví dụ: You have mooned away a year.

 

Go between the moon and the milkman = trốn tránh điều gì đó.

Ví dụ: It looks as if Joe went between the moon and the milkman. He had been here after dinner but he went this morning.

 

Bark at the moon = kiện cáo vô ích.

Ví dụ: Good luck talking to the principal, but I think you’ll just be barking at the moon.
